Possum Kingdom Lake Fishing Report
Updated May 30, 2025
Water is stained but clearing up on the south end towards the dam. The river continues to rise up and down so expect more dirty water. Water temp is 75-78 degrees. Despite poor water clarity, fishing is getting better.
Stripers are still hard to find but it’s getting better. You’re best to use live bait or something that makes noise and vibrates like a rattle trap.
Sand bass are in 10-20 feet of water off the points a humps. 2″ slabs, rattle traps, crank baits, and rooster tails are all good options for them.
Catfishing has been on fire, they are in 2-8 feet of water. Punch bait, chicken liver, shad, and worms will do the trick. Bass fishing is finally getting good again since the dirty water first came.
Both smallmouth and largemouth bass are biting. For the most part they are up shallow in structure (fallen trees, rocks, etc) crank baits, spinner baits, chatterbaits, and rattle traps have all been good options. Even a top water bite has kicked off using frogs and spooks.
