Guided Texas Turkey Hunts On Private Land
Experience an authentic Texas spring turkey hunt with our fully guided Rio Grande gobbler packages. These hunts are designed for serious hunters who want a high-quality, low-pressure experience with professional guides, proven setups, and strong bird populations. We focus on limited bookings each season to maintain hunt quality and maximize hunter success. If you’re looking for a true wild turkey hunt, not a crowded, rushed operation, Texas Thermal Outfitters is it.
Our hunts target wild Rio Grande turkeys known for their aggressive responses, long beards, and sharp spurs. Mature Toms in our area commonly carry 6–9 inch beards and 1–2 inch spurs, offering both an exciting hunt and an excellent trophy opportunity. We run only a handful of hunts each season on a first-come, first-served basis, so early deposits are strongly recommended to lock in your preferred dates.

Rio Grande Turkey Hunting in Texas
Turkey Handling, Cleaning, & Trophy Care
Once your Rio Grande Tom is harvested, our guides will walk you through the proper handling and cleaning process to make sure your bird is preserved correctly for both meat quality and trophy display. Turkeys are either field dressed or breasted depending on your plans for mounting and meat care.
We take care to keep feathers, beard, fan, and spurs intact when a hunter plans to mount their bird. If you are doing a full fan or beard mount, we’ll show you exactly how to protect those features in the field and during transport. Proper handling right after harvest makes a major difference in the final trophy quality.
For meat care, most hunters choose to breast their turkey, which is fast, clean, and efficient. Your guide can assist with breasting the bird on site or back at camp, ensuring clean cuts and proper cooling. If you prefer to keep the bird whole for a taxidermist, we’ll help you prep and store it correctly until it can be delivered.
We recommend bringing a cooler for meat transport, and we’re happy to provide guidance on storage, icing, and travel care so your harvest makes it home in top condition.
